TRIPLE-DIGIT TEMPS PLUS DANGEROUSLY HIGH HEAT INDEX VALUES ON THE WAY

The first last month peaked with a high temp of 106 on June 18th and 20th. Unfortunately, as an upper-level ridge of high pressure (dare I call it a "death ridge?" over the Desert Southwest expands and intensifies, it will nudge its influence farther east into Texas, setting the stage for our second major heat wave of the year. It was fun while it lasted! We enjoyed another "pleasantly" hot July day on Friday, with a high of "only" 95! That's actually the average high for July 7th, and thanks to extra clouds and very spotty showers (most areas stayed dry), temps were held back for yet another day.
